I'm guessing China will simply block it at the firewall. It would be hilarious to witness the US Gov validating The Pirate Bay's hydra domain approach. Maybe some squatting isn't a bad idea:
This project is hardly some emergent property of the Internet or even Internet culture. The existence of VPNs and proxies in general is. They are easy to set up and hard to block. But this project, if it launches, will be a single well-known target which, at a technical level, countries could easily block access to. Whether blocking actually occurs will depend on the whims of geopolitics, but it’s not exactly a robust situation.
Absolutely nothing has changed since the 90s. News should be free. Free with unobtrusive ads if you want pictures and video to help with hosting costs. Stop trying to fiddle with this formula. lite.cnn.com is all we will ever need in terms of getting the message. Mircopayments are not a solution because nothing needs to be fixed.
Good journalists don't aspire to become wealthy. I meant what I wrote. The cost to fetch the article off a server and display it on my screen is too cheap to measure. A few ads will cover it.
So why are we still telling ourselves this process is used to assess suitability for a job? Is it not just a hazing process? Maybe tech sucks because people who take the abuse or game the system outnumber the results oriented
I despise how the Atlantic is comfortable rewriting history to make it fit with modern narrative. Hitler wanted Stalingrad, North Africa, and the UK. Cherry picking stuff for clicks is sloppy at best and an instant hit to their integrity. Greenland was never a major goal.
