I have extensive experience managing software and hardware product development programs, including managing complex internal and external stakeholders. I own my deliverables and operate on a quite technical level helping to get things done. Example project: In-flight connectivity software for an aviation terminal flown on Airbus and Boeing commercial aircraft including airside software, passenger portal, network infrastructure, ground infrastructure.

Interestingly many engineers in the German car industry (often seen as high quality), e.g. at Audi or BMW and other large non-automotive enterprises like Siemens work under IG Metall union contracts and the companies do rather well.

I think that's because in those countries a loss of employment doesn't have the potential to cause gigantic disruptions to life through the loss of health insurance and often housing. There are much more robust systems in place to help an individual worker handle life while between jobs. So the union isn't as incentivized to try to prevent any and all layoffs even when the company needs to respond to changing economic factors that might require scaling back.

I had a really exceptional girlfriend (extremely smart, successful and beautiful) - and married her. In general you should see it as a success. Most people only date the next-best-fit, you found someone you admire. Ask her what she admires/ loves in you and you'll surely find out some truly exceptional facts about yourself to soothe your self-esteem.

Congrats! Your comment suggests, and I concur, that you could find out what she finds attractive about you and then making sure that you don't drop the ball on that and related areas. You need to remember that beauty (handsomeness) is in the eyes of the beholder. Sustaining some shared interests is also very important.

That's a cute idea actually. I just hope she won't comment about my looks. I really hope there's something else there :)
