This has been a major thorn as releases constantly have discrepancies and subtle bugs that are hard to diagnose and track down. Even Swift 6.1 broke non UTF-8 string encodings by just returning "nil" on Linux and took until Swift 6.2 to be fixed (nearly a year).
sad, I was doing server side around v4/5 and this was the biggest issue at the time for me (lots of stuff was not implemented and you only found out at runtime). that this is still a problem is very disappointing...
> A fully functional sched_ext scheduler that makes real CPU scheduling decisions based on real-time planetary positions, zodiac signs, and astrological principles. This actually loads into the Linux kernel and schedules your system tasks. Because if the universe can influence our lives, why not our CPU scheduling too?

posting isn't praxis. what do you think more articles on this site will achieve?

Idk man, imagine quitting HP in the 70s to make your own HP or IBM. Inconceivable
Quitting Fairchild to make your own semiconductor manufacturer (twice), quitting Intel to make your own CPU manufacturer, etc. The point isn’t that people didn’t do it if brave/desperate enough, the point is that it wasn’t a Thing You Can Do in the collective consciousness. Also, relatedly, that the societal infrastructure to support(/profit from) this category of people wasn’t yet in place, so you needed to be wealthy or connected (even more so than now).
You're paid by writing code. The code is the company's capital, YOU are the company's labor. Unless you somehow expect to spend yourself at the grocery store, you've never been capital.

Because that’s not the case? In America it is still extremely easy to find alternative lucrative work, or simply start your own business; because in software development the worker basically owns the means of production - himself. This is an extremely powerful bargaining position and it’s why SWE pays so well here.
Athletes, actors, doctors, and other professions still have to negotiate with centralized capital to some degree in a way SWE never will
