Same thing with maned space missions. completely pointless waste of money. if we colonize a planet we will need machines to do it for us. if not completely automated then remotely controlled. no point in doing it any other way. I'm not even sure what the point of the ISS even is anymore.
Then you may not be aware of the medical applications of low/zero gravity environments. It's a fascinating topic. It's very early days on this stuff since the costs are so high, but the potential is there: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exomedicine
There's a big emotional difference between sending a robot and a human to explore. The latter is clearly much more relatable and inspiring to people. So whether it's a pointless waste of money depends on what you're trying to achieve. But I'd argue that the inspiration and unifying aspects are two of the biggest payoffs of space exploration, and robots don't quite cut it there.
Also, humans are much more flexible than the robots we can currently create, which is pretty useful.
sure. if we plan to go there someday. but it doesn't need to be humans that does all the manual labor when machines can do it faster and more efficiently.
In this literal same article they talk about how iPhones send this kind of telemetry too. A different kind of MB amount, but they still do this. They're also horribly locked down and their owner thinks you should pay 30% tax on every single payment transaction you do in life.
So I'm not entirely sure what your iPhone advertisement is supposed to support here.
Iphones are so locked down. You can't access the file system. If you plug it into a computer it doesn't appear as a device you can just copy files to. You have to install some garbage software to transfer the files for you. It can't even play webm videos.
I'm done with android. The final straw for me was when i needed to call 911 for my grandmother and android thought it was a good idea to play notification sounds in the middle of the conversation. Couldn't even hear the operator over all the loud DING DING DING.
There are. But it only takes one mistake and you're caught. I think most of the guys that do this for a living probably live in countries like Russia where the government doesn't cooperate with US authorities and they are basically free to do whatever they want as long as it doesn't screw over their home country.
Using phone numbers for verification is just stupid. I've switched phones a few times over the years and just got a new number rather than keeping my old one and i got locked out of my accounts because i didn't have access to the old number anymore. Stuff like Authy and Google Authenticator exist, I think it's time companies started using them.
So this should mean you can use the built-in biometric security of an iPhone or high end Android since those can also be used with WebAuthn in the built-in browser or with Firefox, or any security key, not just a Yubikey.
WebAuthn is easier (one tap login), it cannot be phished, it's privacy preserving, and yet somehow here we are in 2020 and most sites are like "Hmm, maybe we should add SMS 2FA?"
login.gov requires you to pick two second factors. So, either you had two Yubikeys (or I mention in a parallel sub-thread, any other type of FIDO Security Key or WebAuthn capable platform) or you had an entirely different second factor and that still works.
I love windows xp. always have and still find it eaiser and more intuitive than windows 10. I encourage everyone to donate and support reactOS. It's our only hope for a sane open source OS.
