Since someone else posted the Gingery books on building a machine-shop from scratch, I thought I'd post this slightly different approach... build a machine that can do the work of a lathe, drill-press and milling machine from recycled parts, with the main piece being an old combustion engine block to leverage the precision milling of the cylinder bores.

Im curious, why did you decide to post the wikipedia page than the opensourcemachine link? I've noticed that wiki pages often dont do as well on HN as other websites
