If you want, you can run a lot of proprietary Windows software in wine, so this is already an option for you.

However, a lot of open source software projects will also accept donations in addition to code (if you do not have time to contribute the latter) so if you find something lacking there may be an easy way for you to help. I like to pick a few OSS projects every year to make some donations to. I have always figured it would be better to help improve the open source solutions than it is to look for proprietary ones.

Take a look at Proton, as well. You can use it outside of Steam to run Windows apps.
