> Netflix said that it greatly respected Ms. Gaprindashvili but that it believed her claim was without merit. “Netflix has only the utmost respect for Ms. Gaprindashvili and her illustrious career, but we believe this claim has no merit and will vigorously defend the case,” the company said in a statement.

How can anyone say that with a straight face after keeping this line in the script: "There's Nona Gaprindashvili, but she's the female world champion and has never faced men."

And, now, instead of apologizing and perhaps even paying her something, they double down instead.

This is so typical of Hollywood. Even their feminism is fake.

A 80 year old woman living in Georgia filing a multi-million dollar lawsuit in LA on a basis of this single sentence harming her professional reputation because she is still competing in senior chess tournaments? "There's Nona Gaprindashvili, but she's the female world champion and has never faced men."

Is this a factual statement or did Netflix broadcast lies in order to boost their fictional female heroine?

> this doesn't have someone's greed written all over it.

As if Netflix is in this business for charity.

"The complaint added that 'in a story that was supposed to inspire women by showing a young woman competing with men at the highest levels of world chess, Netflix humiliated the one real woman trail blazer who had actually faced and defeated men on the world stage in the same era.' "

Yeah that seems unfortunate...
