I've had my pixel 2 for almost four years and I'm still perfectly content with it. Google, however, stopped supporting it after 3 years. The 5 year support guarantee fairphone provides looks really appealing to me. The fact that it's user-serviceable is also a nice bonus.
Fairphone is on the business since 2013 and they’re still around strong enough to be able to invest in R&D and commercialization of their fourth modular & ethical phone (5th if you account for the 3+)
I don’t have any clue about their financial health but to me that sounds like a strong and remarkably well managed company.
This is something I can get behind, a fully functional phone, decently priced, that actually delivers in what it promises. And doesn't guilty people in buying it for the sake of "Privacy". I don't want to pay 2000 USD (or 800+) for a handicapped phone that could be amazing, but is not nearly close. Does anyone have flashed Calyx OS to it? (beta testers, or people with review units, as it is in pre-order now)
I had a Fairphone 2 and was quite happy with it, though unfortunately I'm not using it any more. The modular approach is quite nice, but a missed opportunity with the FP2 was that you couldn't customise your phone by choosing between different modules.
Do these work with US carriers? If I click the preorder button the next page shows detailed specifications including network bands, but I am not sure how to interpret those.
It's a pity it's not available in the US.
