Say what you like, but Uber made taxi approachable for regular folks in my country. Before Uber, taxi was THE LAST RESORT where a short (5 km) ride would cost you 10% of minimal wage.

So I say, keep the lie going, because people who can’t afford a car, and towns without good public transport now are mobile.


Uber has dragged the taxi industry screaming and kicking into the 21st century (use of apps, payments by card, etc). To me this is a textbook example of positive disruption and of the value of real competition whatever any shady side of the company might be.
