In the role, you'll be maintaining the open source code base, help the community, and drive the project forward (new features etc). It's a plus if you have experience tinkering with Raspberry Pis (since you'll be doing a fair bit of that).
This looks interesting but I am confused about the relationship between the open-source version and the SaaS-y for-profit version. There is lots of verbiage at the website about how the two projects share zero code, along with a none-too-subtle pitch to get potential users to go for the paid version.
Can someone knowledgeable recap the history & politics here? If I apply for and am offered a job at "screenly", am I joining a FOSS project, or a for-profit company that supports the FOSS version merely to fill their hopper for the paid product?
Screenly is looking for an open source developer to work on the most popular digital signage project on GitHub (https://github.com/Screenly/screenly-ose).
