I love how it stops at YouTube, however Facebook and GMail/webmail definitely deserve to be included. Nothing else important happened after this. Maybe iPod, since podcast is already on the list.

Keith still post on the internet, specifically on Usenet or what's left of it.. see Google groups rec arts science fiction written or rec arts science fiction fans or something like that

Fun timeline. However, I have to disagree with this one:

91 3 cyber (as a prefix referring to the net)

"Cyberspace" was coined by sci-fi author William Gibson in his 1984 Novel, Neuromancer. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuromancer.

The term described his vision of a VR-like, immersive "internet" of sorts. The book became a cultural touchstone for many reasons. For example, the Wachowskis cited it as a major influence of their vision for the Matrix.

From the early '80s, I have nostalgia for "talk" and "finger".

i had no idea that GIF dated as far back as 1989, purportedly before images on browsers were a thing, and 2 years before JPEG

wouldve loved for all these to come with sources.

There were dialup BBS sites all over before the web took over. And sharing images was popular.

GIF is from 1987, even.

I think the full name of the common format is gif89a

Actually, there was GIF87a before (not to be confused with SN1987a).

I’m surprised that Gopher does not really predate WWW.

(2006) last update, by the look of it.
