I think there's two categories of submissions on HN that I read. One is rumination about various tech topics and the other are technical teardowns or step by step how to run Linux on a Kindle, etc

I think the rumination ones can be replaced by AI right now. They don't really serve much practical purpose and are more for entertainment reasons while the technical ones teach you concrete things you are unlikely to reproduce without significant effort.

Personally I'd like to see the latter more celebrated because they entail a lot of work even if they're not as emotionally jarring.
