Back in the day I worked for a small IT company that hadn't yet implemented DNS or DHCP, all machines including office PCs were named using periodically distributed hosts files. Reading this file was fun, to see the imagination slowly dwindle. The names started using the usual themes, planets, gases, Tolkien characters. By the end the names had degenerated into 'door', 'window', 'chair', 'pen'.
