Small error in this essay: the “west coast” lisp Interlisp was being developed at Xerox PARC at the time but had also originated on the east coast when Danny Bobrow left MIT for BBN (IIRC air was originally called BBN Lisp). Interlisp for the PDP-10 moved with him to PARC.
