You think you secured your Hetzner account with 2FA? Think again (reddit.com)

Based on https://docs.hetzner.com/konsoleh/general/faq/account-migrat... they migrated all accounts to the new accounts.hetzner.com authentication in the summer. Sounds like that legacy login form should no longer exist.

Afaik KonsoleH is for resellers? My acccount is 10 years old, I manage 100 root and clouds servers over several accounts and organizations and KonsoleH is something I never touch (and my logins don't work there). That's not an excuse, but not all Hetzner accounts affected.

My login don't work either. I looked around in KonsoleH and other panels from the Hetzner.com website, and there is no reference to a link like the one in the Reddit post.

I read people moving away from Hetzner as I just moved in.

What other alternatives based in Europe do we have?

I'm currentkly using a mix of Hetzner and Exoscale.

Netcup(.de) are cheap and good

Netcup are pretty much the go-to for german sysadmins looking for something in the sweet spot between cheap and well supported.

One thing to be aware of is that the cheapest plans lock you in for a year.

They often run promotions (sometimes with vouchers you can get from existing customers) that can give you pretty good discounts on top of their already quite fine prices.

Contabo is cheap and reliable.

Why do people move away?

I know that their marketing is strong and their low end instances are cheap but once they started sending me letters over their domain robot and web console access sometime around year 2015 I noped the fuck away and I'm a happy person. One simply cannot receive quality digital service in a country where letters and faxes are sent back and forth, and where 2FA means dedicated buggy and flaky mobile app.

What were the letters about? My account is 10 years old and I've never received a letter from Hetzner.

A fucking contract.

That doesn't sound too strange. A lot of 'official' stuff in Germany is/was still done through physical letters because of legal requirements.

I'd prefer that they send me the contracts over fax. My fax number is nil.

One contract or so many it got annoying?
