Elon hears "His Master's Voice"

Elon Musk has a strong economic dependence on China through Tesla factories. Musk may be mentally unstable, but he is never so manic or angry that he lashes against China, or speaks ill of them. He speaks for them on many occasions.

Similar to Ray Dalio. When Dalio went all in to China with his investments, his opinions became hostages of the Chinese. When things turned sour, struggled to get rid of his China bet while speaking very positively of Chinese leadership.

Disney and Hollywood celebrities are in similar situation. No matter how bleeding right human rights activities they are, money is still stronger and staying silent on Chinese human rights is their choice. Chinese market is just too big.

You'd think a presidential candidate calling an American corporation a "true enemy of the people" would get more attention but apparently it's been semi-normalised.

I mean, he called the press the enemy of the people numerous times when he was in office. It's just Trump being Trump.

I'm neither an Elon Musk fan nor a Donald Trump fan (to say the least) and I also side with them. It's censorship driven by fear to ban TikTok.

same. both are trolls, but the government trying to steal tiktok is insane.

>the government trying to steal tiktok is insane

That is misleading. What some in Congress want to do is require the company that owns Tiktok to create a US subsidiary, then the company gets to sell shares in the subsidiary and keep the money it gets from that sale. It could also keep the shares. As long as it owns the shares, it gets to collect all the profits made by the new US subsidiary.

Tiktok would get to continue operating in the US, which is more than fair IMHO given how harmful (addictive) Tiktok is: I'd be sorely tempted to shut it down, which would be a lot like stealing or confiscation (of revenue potential), but that is not the bill actually before Congress.
