A nightly Waymo robotaxi parking lot honkfest is waking San Francisco neighbors (theverge.com)

Too many Waymo robotaxis arrive at the overnight parking lot at around the same time, after their shift, creating congestion in the parking lot. It takes those robotaxis around an hour to self-park, during which they're moving forward, then backward, breaking, flashing blinkers, beeping, honking, etc. Each would be able to park quickly if it weren't for the other robotaxis. The noise, lights, and commotion keep neighbors awake. Make sure to watch the video ("it's f@#king 4am").

Douglas Adams would have gotten a kick out of this.

I really cannot understand why they do not just run "on-rails" (with some A.I. e-stop) while in the lot. It's an almost-completely controlled environment, so there's not much benefit for training or testing.

Seems like an easy problem to fix with a conditional and a geofence

earlier post seems to indicate they fixed it, but I cannot watch at the moment

Waymo should be punished at least as harsh as a single driver honking away every night.

Totally, go ahead and try to cal the sf police non emergency line to file a complaint. If enough of them pile up the police will do nothing. It takes about four hours to get through and they shout at you at 18db the entire time FOR THE HEARING IMPAIRED. Godspeed little buddy.

self-driving cars are one of the most stupid ideas ever.
