Is this specific work even discoverable for the companies to sponsor? There are many companies donating to the Linux Foundation, shouldn't it (also) distribute that money among volunteers?

So - one lone, unpaid volunteer. For the past 4 years.

By far the biggest problem with OSS is the ever-so-convenient assumption that Somebody Else(tm) will always do all the dreary and difficult work.
