Without this kind of information, how are safety-conscious consumers supposed to make a decision? That is, we're told "caveat emptor" and to take personal responsibility, but we can't if information is withheld or not collected.
This sort of thing deprives all of us from the ability to make sensible decisions. It's anti-free market. Since we're broadly in favor of free markets, I can't see this succeeding.
The free market interpretation is that a competitor will make this information available as a differentiating point, if they believe it would make a competitive advantage compared to everyone just not doing it. And that, should no competitor do that, then it behooves any complainant consumer to simply start their own multibillion dollar car company that differentiates on that point.
