Windows Subsystem for Android (learn.microsoft.com)

It likely died for 3 reasons, all related. First, it only supported the Amazon app store, not Google Play, and no one cares about that.

Second, Google decides what versions of Android get the Play Store and not all "open" versions qualify. Google telemetry and other stuff are required, so MS would never get the Play Store.

Finally, Google itself supports publishing Android apps directly on Windows through their Google Play Games packaging method. [0]

This is great news! I have been waiting and waiting for something that would allow me to run Word and PowerPoint on my Pixel 6a!

Read the page, so you will know this is no longer maintained.
