Shhhh don't mention Perl. The fact that Perl is still installed by default on most Linux distros is the only ray of light in the horrible devops landscape. The fact that I can write a script in Perl and not have to deal with BASH's horrible syntax is a small joy in that world. If you mention Perl too much, the people who ruin everything might set their sights on it.
