I'd designed (but didn't get around to building) a "personal log" that you could always bring up instantly with a hotkey, type something in right away, and it would never lose it. You wouldn't have to think about filenames, saving your data, or anything. It would just keep your notes in chronological order and let you search for stuff or give it more organization later. The motto was "Always ready. Never forgets."
