Pay them more, sure. But also let's get rid of the artificial limit on how many we can have. They're not being used effectively and we're all worse off for it.

No disagreement from me regarding that.

Natural disasters are also part of nature. It doesn't follow that I should want to be hit by a tsunami because of this.

It doesn't matter if we're part of nature. The negative affects are enough to justify not allowing it to happen when possible.

A large quantity of my games are outright terrible to play on my steam deck. I have my games divided into categories based on if they're worth playing on it or not. For more intense games where the framerate is abysmal and audio stutters, I avoid using it. That or for games that I want the extra smoothness and visual fidelity. There are many, many games that are like this. It includes older ones too.

The company doing well is a lovely outcome. However, at what point do they care about me doing well? Or do they just want to do the bare minimum to keep me alive and in my seat?

The language isn't the problem with nix.

It's not "the problem", but it's a problem. It's better than alternatives, but it's hacky nature shows.

Well, if you believe:

- discoverability is a problem in Nix

- Guix encourages or "shepherds" more discoverable functions, modules, and abstractions

Then the language could be a problem.

What is?

Astroneer is indeed a voxel game. With some trickery to make it appear differently.

The language is absolutely not the problem. It's not a particularly difficult or complex language at all. In fact, it's pretty elegant and easy to understand the language. It's the things built on top of it that are difficult.

I like the core constructs and I think it looks beautiful, but it quickly becomes a mess. I agree though otherwise.

How is glass more likely to need replacing than plastic that gets discarded?

I assume they were talking about re-usable plastic containers vs glass. Glass breaks.

Are there any industrial processes where plastic containers get re-used? I know drink containers get returned where I live. But I doubt they get re-used.

In Germany you can get some soft drinks in reused thick plastic bottles.

Finland replaced those with the lighter ones that get crunched now... Then again it might have been sensible from microplastics perspective... Many of the recycled ones were pretty scuffed...

Think about containers you use at home to store leftover food.

I don't want to pay for the car nor the gas. Let's not let the same hostage situation extend to other aspects of our lives it we can avoid it.

If you don't want to pay for the car, why are you complaining about car dealerships? I don't think anyone here is opposed to the concept of paying for professional tooling in any way, shape, nor form.

Even if someone could do fine, I'd prefer to skip out on them rather than let those who aren't fit through.

If there really such a wealth of honest, talented, dedicated people that you are ready to waste proven ones?

Yes
